Ernesto Borges Pérez sufre problemas de salud en la Prision Combinado del Este donde se encuentra recluido desde hace  20 años, según da a conocer su padre, Raúl Borges Alvarez luego de su última visita a la cárcel.
El Preso Político padece problemas oculares, pero no quiere ser operado en la prisión. El oficial de la Seguridad del Estado, llamado Abel, insiste que Ernesto debe ser sometido a una intervención quirúrgica, ante la posibilidad que se quede ciego, pero el recluso y los familiares no tienen confianza en que se opere dentro de la prisión, porque no existen las condiciones adecuadas para su recuperación.
